The Broome County Water Rescue Dive Response Team was first organized late in 2003 with an operational date of September of 2004. The team is part of Broome County Emergency Sercives providing water rescue services on a mutual aid basis. While we have a strong skill set in SCUBA diving we are also trained in flood water rescue, swiftwater rescue and ice rescue.
Our divers are some of the most expereinced in the Northeast. All of our current officers are certified SCUBA Instructors, and there are several other professional divers on our team as well. Our diving skill set includes everything from searching for missing persons or evidence to salvage of vehicals and aircraft. We have experienced divers who are trained in drysuits, fullface masks, wired and wireless comms, rebreathers, night diving, mixed gas diving, deep diving (certified up to 330fsw), cave diving and the list goes on.
Most of our personal are also trained Swiftwater Rescue Technicains with experience in a variety of environments. We also train every year in surface and underwater ice rescue.
